Andirons
A sturdy pair of andirons was an appliance necessary in all period homes.
Primarily used to support logs in the fireplace, they could also play a role in open fire cooking by holding a spit. We have recreated
four examples of traditional design and quality. 18” H x 16”

Fireplace Cranes
To facilitate open fire cooking, 18th century fireplaces were equipped
with cranes. We offer a standard style (some electric welding) and a fully hand-forged version (traditional joinery) in a variety of lengths. Each comes with either masonry brackets to install during construction or angle brackets for existing
fireplaces. (Please specify arm length and bracket type when ordering.
Custom sizes and designs also available).
Swinging
cranes replaced the ‘lugpole’ in the fireplace, making it much easier and safer to move large pots of food in or out of the fire.
The buildling of a fireplace created opportunities for many different
craftsmen to pursue their individual talents.
